Jessica has a strong passion for working with teens, including LGBTQ+. The transition from childhood to adulthood is often the most challenging time in an individual’s life. It’s a phase of life in which a child develops their identity as an individual. The growing need for independence, the desire for greater autonomy and the increased responsibilities placed on teens often create stress. It is normal for teens to experience difficulties during this time.

In the therapy process Jessica provides a safe space for teens, free of judgement, to process emotions and events, explore their identity, and practice new skills. Her experiences have afforded her the opportunity to work with youth with a wide range of concerns ranging from anxiety and depression, to truancy, to self-injurious behavior, gender and sexual identity, and relationship concerns.

Jessica has training in the use of experiential play therapy, directive play therapy, and sand play therapy with children individually and in group settings, with ages ranging from 3 to 12 years old, and in environments including the office, daycares,  schools, an children’s homes. She also has years of experience working in a level three therapeutic classroom with children and teens experiencing behavioral and emotional difficulties, collaborating with school personnel, and assisting families in uncovering the needs behind their child’s behaviors. Her most recent work has focused on providing traditional talk therapy to teens and young adults utilizing a holistic, strength-based approach. In this process, family therapy or parenting support is often helpful along with collaborating with other providers involved in the youth's care and school staff, as necessary.
